Jocaca exists to make art and community to deeply pause for authentic connection and liberation beyond hate. Jocaca is a Los Angeles practice for spiritual direction and art. Together, we create contemplatively, name what’s true with radical honesty, and build communities of care and transformation.
Transitions Art Study and Other Works
My current art study, Transitions: A Series of Self Portraits, traces identity through my transition as a transgender woman, shifting colors, shapes, textures, communities, and gazes. Each piece is an inquiry, part research and part ritual, into how the body carries memory, ancestors, pain, grief, joy, transformation, and swollen hopes for the future.
Through my unique experience with transitions, I am in dialogue with universal experiences with transitions. The work compares and contrasts my becoming with other ways we experience transitions, like death, birth, immigration, countercultural identities, war, decolonization, incarceration, censorship, and hateful norms of all kinds. In each piece I look for echoes across these transitions and ask how they insect in my body and my self portraiture. And I wonder how the body of work resonates with your body.
Jocaca is more than inspired artwork. It is a lived study, a practice that asks how art and spirit can hold people, communities, and futures with care.
Also called spiritual accompaniment or inner-awareness coaching, offers room to slow down, listen deeply, and become more aware of how the holy is moving in your life. It is not about answers or fixing. It is about presence, curiosity, and openness.
I am Toni Rose, a spiritual director who accompanies people exploring questions of meaning, faith, identity, and connection. Our time together is confidential and grounded in radical authenticity. You bring your own way of making sense of life, through religion, spiritual experiences, justice, art, mysticism, and that understanding guides our exploration. We attend to what feels most true and alive in you. Learn more about what this ancient practice can look like and how to begin.
Spiritual Direction
Dada Breach Blog is where I leak all my deepest reflections on art, identity, spirit, generosity, sex, relationship, and leadership. Everything is absurd and all norms must be abandoned, get freaky. Break open, never closed, and breathe deep before continuing forward.
